The Trauma and Resilience Research Group is a group of researchers from the School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew university of Jerusalem who conduct multidisciplinary research on the broad consequences of trauma and the factors that promote or inhibit resilience. We are interested in local and international research projects that employ an ecological perspective and focus on risk and protective behaviors, violence in different contexts, racism, macroaggressions and mass trauma.

 

Our Team:

Miriam SchiffPh.D is a Professor and Zena Harman Chair in Social Work at Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. She is also the chair of the Baerwald school and Hadassah university medical center research group on social work in health care. Her research interests are in (a) the moderators and mediator factors explaining the associations between man-made trauma and substance use as well as other health and mental health indicators among children and adolescents; (b) rehabilitation and grief and bereavement among veterans and their families; (c) social work in health care including the impact of COVID-19 on social workers and vulnerable groups.

​​Dana Lassri, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor and director of the ChARM research Lab at the School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a research fellow at UCL, and a clinical psychologist. Her research and practice focus on the implications of childhood adversities and exposure to traumatic stress throughout the life span, secondary traumatic stress among helping professionals and teaching staff, and the bio-psycho-social aspects of Endometriosis. Her main objectives are identifying risk and protective factors and promoting resilience via the development of psychotherapeutic (mentalizing-based) interventions in these fields.

Ohad Gilbar, Ph.D., is a Senior Lecturer at the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dr. Gilbar – both in terms of research and clinical work – has focused on the contribution of traumatic event exposure, PTSD/CPTSD, and gender in face–to-face and cyber intimate partner violence. Additionally, he works on developing and validating measurements to assess these issues.

Ruth Pat-HorenczykPh.D. is a Full Professor at the School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a clinical psychologist. Her research topics focus on risk and protective factors for childhood PTSD, relational trauma, resilience and posttraumatic growth, and recently, on the mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
