Hanita Kosher

Dr. Hanita Kosher is a senior faculty member at the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Hanita Kosher’s primary research interests centered around children’s rights, with a special focus on children’s right to participation, particularly children’s right to participation in the child welfare system. Another strand of research focuses on children’s subjective well-being, meaning how children perceived their own lives, happiness and quality of life. In her studies Hanita employs a child centered approach, drawing on the normative approach of children right to participation and on the theoretical approach of the new sociology of childhood, drawing on participatory research of children. Using these perspectives enable to explore children’s rights and lives from their own perspectives and to explore their attitudes and perceptions, especially children in vulnerable situations.  

Hanita has a vast experience as a social worker in the field. Between 2019 to 2022 she served as the Director of Knowledge and Development in "A Home for Every Child" – an NGO that provides therapeutic services for abused and neglected children and their families. Previously (2008-2016), she serve as the Director of Education and Training at the National Council of the Child, an Israeli advocacy organization for children's rights.
