The focus of my research and teaching is ways to improve the services and response to the needs of persons with severe mental illness and their families. It includes studies of services which can improve their recovery and social inclusion. For example, I conducted a study of the Supported Education programs in academic institutions which their aim is to help persons with mental illness during their studies in universities. Another study focused on ways to improve the wellness of persons with severe mental illness, their quality of nutrition and involvement in physical activities. My research also includes studies with family caregivers of persons with mental illness. For example, a study conducted in psychiatric hospitals evaluating the impact of the implementation of an innovative family-centered care model. The aim of this model is to improve the collaboration between the professionals in the psychiatric wards and the family caregivers and the continuity of services between the psychiatric hospital and the community. I managed a specialization in psychosocial rehabilitation of persons with mental illness in the MA program and I serve as the representative of the academic institutions in the Israeli National Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health in the area of Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
